Custom Club Gymnastics Leotards: How to Order for Your Team

A matching club leotard does more than look good on the competition floor: it gives your gymnasts a team identity and makes your club instantly recognisable. Here is how a custom club order works at Startner, a family workshop that has been making gymnastics leotards in Marseille, France, since 1968 and dresses more than 400 clubs.

Quick answer

You design the leotard online in your club colours, send your sizes and quantities, and receive a free quote. The minimum is 6 leotards per club order. Once you approve the quote and pay the 50% deposit, your leotards are cut and sewn in our workshop, which takes 6 to 8 weeks.

Step 1: design your leotard in your club colours

Our online design tool starts from the Toscane model, with 3/4 mesh sleeves. For each panel you choose the fabric and one of 30 colours, or any custom shade from our colour chart, and you see the result immediately, front and back.

  • Bodice and bands: shiny Lycra, which catches the light under the arena spotlights.
  • Body: matt Lycra, comfortable and hard-wearing for a whole season.
  • Sleeves and sides: mesh or matt Lycra. The preview shows how the mesh looks on light, medium or dark skin.

Tip: start from your club's two main colours, then use a third, lighter or metallic shade for the bands. Strong contrasts read best from the judges' table.

Step 2: collect your sizes

Our sizes follow the European system: girls' sizes by age (8, 10, 12 and 14 years) and women's sizes from 36 to 48 (US 4 to 16, UK 8 to 20). The easiest way is to measure every gymnast's chest, waist and hips, then compare with our EU, UK and US size chart. When a gymnast is between two sizes, choose the larger one, especially for young gymnasts who will grow during the season.

Step 3: request your quote

Enter your club name, the sizes and the quantity for each size. An image of your design is attached to the request automatically. Our workshop then checks the fabrics and colours you chose (availability, how the colours will come out once sewn) and sends you your quote. The quote is free and commits you to nothing.

Step 4: production in Marseille

When you accept the quote, a 50% deposit starts production. Every leotard is cut and sewn in our own workshop in Marseille, and production takes 6 to 8 weeks. Plan your order with your competition calendar in mind: for a season that starts in January, ordering in October or early November is a safe choice.

Ordering from the UK or the USA

  • United Kingdom: we ship to the UK by tracked Colissimo parcel, and delivery is free from €100 of purchases.
  • United States: see our page on gymnastics leotards shipped to the USA. For club orders, write to us and we will include delivery in your quote.

We reply in English at gym@startner.com.

When new gymnasts join the club

Your design is kept, so you can reorder a single leotard in the same colours when a new gymnast joins the team or when someone outgrows her size. No minimum applies to these top-up orders.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order for custom club leotards?

6 leotards per club order. Top-up orders for new gymnasts have no minimum.

Can a parent order a custom leotard on their own?

No. Customisation is reserved for club orders. Parents can choose from our ready-to-wear gymnastics leotards, which are also made in our workshop.

Which fabric should we choose for competition?

Shiny Lycra on the bodice and matt Lycra on the body is the combination most clubs choose: it shines on the floor and holds its shape. Our guide to gymnastics fabrics compares the options in detail.

Do you make boys' club leotards?

Write to us when you request your quote and we will tell you what is possible for your team. You can also browse our ready-to-wear boys' and men's leotards.
